What’s Nuttin’ Butter?
Nuttin’ Butter is an LA-based business dedicated to nut butters, one of mankind’s greatest inventions. Our two-person operation creates gourmet peanut butters, almond butters, and peanut-almond-cashew butter blends using all-natural, high-quality ingredients. No fillers, no polysyllabic stuff—everything we use is recognizable and, more importantly, damn tasty.
Why nut butters?
This business stems not only from a lifetime love of peanut butter on both of our parts, but a desire to create fun, uniquely flavored peanut and almond butters without adding a bunch of sugar or oil. You’ll see cheap fillers like palm fruit oil on the ingredients lists of other flavored nut butters, but never on ours. We prefer the simple taste of dry-roasted nuts. We also use small amounts of sweeteners like honey and semi-sweet chocolate to ensure that the rich, robust flavor of the nuts still shines through, which also keeps our nut butters low in sugar. That’s how we make sure our nut butters taste great AND make you feel great. Plus, they’ll open your minds to the world of culinary possibilities that nut butters offer. Plain ol’ PB&J? How did the business start?
We’ve toyed with the idea of opening a food business for years, but the inspiration to make it a reality really comes from a trip to China that we took over the summer. After two months backpacking around the country without access to our favorite go-to snack, a spoonful of natural peanut butter with apple slices, we came back with nut butters on the brain. (You can find peanut butter in China, but it’s mostly of the trans-fat-laden, frosting-like variety.) After much trial and error, we came up with a lineup of eight different flavors and introduced them to LA in April 2012. We’re now in a few farmers markets and shops around LA, and we can’t wait to see where our love of peanut butters and almond butters takes us. The overwhelming support and positive responses we’ve received so far has meant the world to us, and we’re excited to continue bringing our nut butters into kitchens around LA and beyond!
